University of Toronto Free Press
March 2009
Role: Web Designer
Details: Students at the University of Toronto decided to create an alternative online news source, the University of Toronto Free Press. Designing the website was a collective process, after which I put together the website. Besides translating the wireframe to code, this involved setting up a backend for the site and teaching the students how to use it.

Nov 2008
Role: Web Designer, Blogger
Details: Though the previous design of my blog had been featured in several web design galleries, including CSS Mania, I felt like doing a redesign. For the second time in a row, it made the editor's cut on W3C Sites.
Tamil Studies Conference
Jun 2008
Role: Print Designer
Details: In 2008, I did up all the print work for the Tamil Studies Conference, an annual academic conference hosted in Toronto by the Universities of Toronto and Windsor. The products were posters, promotional postcards, and a 70-page bilingual program. Other duties included grant-writing and assisting in the general logistics of organising the conference. I now advise the TSC on web-related matters and will be doing the print work for the 2009 conference.
Farooq and Salwa's Wedding
Aug 2007
Role: Print Designer
Details: In order to commemorate the occasion, Farooq and Salwa made donations in their guests' names to Trees for the Future. I designed the bookmarks that were given out on the day of wedding. (Photography courtesy of Muntaka Shah.)

Ultraviolet Magazine
Aug 2006
Role: Web Designer
Details: Ultraviolet Magazine is a popular and long-standing literary magazine at Queen's University. In 2005 I joined the editorial team as one of its layout editors. My primary responsibility was assisting in designing the print magazine. By far, however, my most enjoyable task was giving UV a legitimate site. Up until that point, its "online" version consisted entirely of one unwieldy PDF.
Queen's University Online Politics Courses
Aug 2006
Role: Web Designer
Details: These were online courses and so I had to present the curricula both in XHTML and WebCT formats. There was a special focus on accessibility, on ease of printing, and clarity in this project. I also had to ensure the design did not distract from the content and that it reflected the department's general aesthetic.
Ontario Public Interest Research Group - Kingston
Aug 2006
Role: Web Designer
Details: I redid OPIRG Kingston site entirely. I also put in place a WordPress backend for staff to use to update the site, as they needed to be able to do easily on a frequent and regular basis. This involved familiarising the staff on how to use WordPress. Given how complicated the site's content organisation actually is, it was a challenge presenting that information clearly for visitors and organising it intuitively for the staff, who were new to WordPress. In many ways, this was my first "big" project.
Eastern Ontario Conference on Continuing Education
Aug 2006
Role: Web Designer
Details: The Eastern Ontario Symposium on Educational Technology is an annual conference held at participating universities throughout Eastern Ontario. I was required to not only redo (in effect, create) their online aesthetic, but also put in place a content management system that staff could then use to update the site every year.
